If you've ever read The Ugly Stepsister By Aya Ling, you should already know how great of a book it is! But if you haven't... well... you should read it, because you're missing out on a lot of greatness.
If you want to know about it, but you are too lazy to read (admit it, that's your reason!) then here's a summary.
Katherine rips an old copy of Cinderella, and she goes into the book as an ugly stepsister, Katriona. She learns that she has to get out of the book by fulfilling a happily ever after. She believes that this means she needs to get Elle (aka Cinderella) and Prince Edward together. But everything comes with problems, in this case, them being that the other stepsister is gorgeous, possibly even more than Elle. And even though the many attempts of Katherine were to get Elle and the Prince together, Elle ends up falling for the Prince's cousin and the prince falls for... Katherine. Katherine and Prince Edwards's marriage is the happily ever after the book needed, and Katherine is sent home with no memories of the book.
My problems with this book are very few. One, the author could've taken more time with what happens before Katherine falls into the book, and two, some of the character's actions were idiotic. Such as when the prince somehow figured out that the happily ever after wasn't with Cinderella, long before Katherine did. It's obvious Katherine wasn't thinking straight at all.
Other than these problems, The Ugly Stepsister was a great read, and the two books following it are great as well. I definitely recommend the series Unfinished Fairy Tales By Aya Ling.
